Monday Munchies: Warm You Up Chili!
January 18, 2011 by admin
It’s cold outside! Ice cold! What’s better than steaming hot chili to warm you up? Not much. We hope this chili recipe will soon be a staple in your home. I switch up regular beans (beans, beans at every meal, the more you eat the more you fart!) for green beens. The green beans add beautiful color and nutrients that won’t effect you if you are sensitive to starches.

Hot, healthy and quick to make!
When you are choosing your chili spice kit make sure it is one with individual packets – this way you can easily leave out the ground corn (masa) or flour used to thicken the dish. We like the 2 Alarm Chili Kit by Wick Fowlers. You can get this at Whole Foods and Harris Teeter easily.

Here's a pic to help you locate the mix!
Ingredients
2 lbs grass fed beef
1 pack of chili spices
1 (16oz) can of peeled whole tomatoes
1 (8oz) can of diced tomatoes with chilies (make sure it is not an Italian flavor!)
1/2 bag of frozen green beans – I like French cut green beans
Directions
1. Cook the ground beef on the stove top until done.
2. Add green beans as desired and cook until warm.
3. Add spice pack and stir.
4. Add both cans of tomatoes. Stir until well mixed and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
To top it off add your favorite cheddar cheese and a bit of sour cream!
