Nutritious, Delicious, Romantic and Budget Friendly

You know how you usually think of lobster as a very special and expensive treat?  Well, not this year.  Since people consider lobster to be a luxury food, demand is way, way down this year, and supply is way, way up thanks to really good oversight of fishing practices.

More supply + less demand = cheaper lobster.

It’s actually cheaper than steak right now.  So, my fiancé (will be my wife tomorrow!) and I have been taking advantage.

I ate the other 5 before I could take this picture.

This weekend we went to Harris Teeter and got 8 lobster tails for about $21.  (A year ago I think that one lobster tail in a restaurant was $20.)

Why Lobster Rocks

There are NO carbs in lobsters.  Plus they are packed with B-12, selenium, zinc, and potassium, and are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Oh, and did I mention that they are delicious?  (Unless you are allergic to shellfish or keeping kosher.)

How To Cook Lobster

They are very simple to prepare.

Butter & Garlic lobster tail (broiled)

Ingredients
2 lobster tails – sliced open (thawed if frozen) ($6 at Harris Teeter)
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tbsp butter melted
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Pre-heat broiler with rack 6” from top.

2.  Chop garlic and heat butter.  Add garlic to butter and cook until garlic begins to turn light brown.  Add salt and pepper.

3.  Place tails on baking sheet and brush with garlic butter.  Broil for 3min, remove and brush again, then broil for 2-3 more min.
