Why Butter, Beef & Egg Yolks Are NOT Bad For You
October 22, 2009 by admin
I’ve been noticing a problem with my clients recently: While on the one hand they are thrilled with how much fat they lose, how much muscle they gain and how much better their energy levels are; on the other hand in the back of their mind they are thinking, “I’m eating all of these egg yolks, all this beef and cheese, am I going to give myself a heart attack?”

This lingering doubt is so deep that even one of my clients who got OFF of cholesterol and high blood pressure meds by eating a TON of saturated fat and high cholesterol food, still has trouble believing his own results!
The problem with this doubt is that it becomes a barrier to long term compliance. Nobody wants to feel that they are trading their health for a better body.
Here’s the deal – saturated fat and cholesterol do NOT cause heart disease. If anything, replacing the starches, sugars and vegetable oils in your diet will actually PROTECT against these diseases.
Cholesterol and Heart Disease
You are 1min and 17sec away from being MUCH smarter.
How Did We Come to Believe That Saturated Fat and Cholesterol Are Bad For You?
There actually is NOT any evidence to prove that saturated fat and cholesterol actually cause heart disease. It’s a popular opinion shared by a lot of people in government positions, but there isn’t actually research to support that theory. It’s kinda like blood letting – popular with authorities, but actually just bunk.
This is worth 2min to watch.
This is a clip form the movie Fat Head, which is a really well researched, thoughtful and funny rebuttal of the whole “saturated fat causes heart disease” hypothesis.
You can Netflix it or get it from Amazon.
Incomplete?
This is a Blog post, not an entire book. This is just to get you started thinking differently. If you found this interesting, a very easy next step is to watch Fat Head.
I am working on a CD with Gary Taubes looking back at the past 60years of research on heart disease, cholesterol and saturated fat. (I picked Gary because he is one of the few people who have literally read all of it.) The whole CD will be mailed to all of my clients for free, and I will post a few highlights on my Blog in the near future for everyone else.

It is now official. Everything I know about anything is wrong. This seems to always happen when you study something. You find out that the prevailing view is flawed.
I feel like a kid who just found out there might not be a Santa.
Yeah, I was a vegan for a good long while. Before veganism – no acne, no eczema, no allergies of any sort (not even to pollen – life was sweet!); after being a vegan for many years I got all that crap + a ton of GI issues. The acne and the GI problems went away with eating a whole lot of meat (as did the man-boobs, or “moobs”).
I didn’t know that about you. Glad you are much healthier now.
